Dr. Sokollik studied medicine in Tübingen, Germany, and specialized in pediatrics before completing a three-year clinical and research fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at the Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, Canada. She joined the pediatric gastroenterology team in Bern at the end of 2012. Here she leads the pediatric hepatology clinic and is responsible for the endoscopy suite. She established her own research group focusing on inflammatory bowel disease and associated inflammatory comorbidities such as autoimmune liver disease. In 2020, she completed her habilitation in this field. Her commitment to improving the care of pediatric patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases is also reflected in her role as President of the Swiss Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (SGPGHE) and her election as a member of the Porto Group of the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) in 2024.
